Обновить профиль сейчас| Музыка: | Music, music, music. Nietzsche once said "Without music, life would be a mistake." and I believe that to be true. When I was born, my mom went right back to work; I was premature, and my father brought me home from the hospital. He was in college at the time, and he was my primary care-giver until I was about 5 years old. Apparently, I was a fussy baby and the only thing that would shut me up, was music on the hi-fi turntable. As a 4-year old, I remember very distinctly listening to Tchaikovski's "1812 Overture" and being just so caught up in that music. Actually, any music would do; my father played a lot of Big Band music from the Patriotic War era. I knew early on that I wanted to be a musician. I love just about anything that is played well, or is written well. There's a lot of contemporary junk that isn't worth wasting your ears one, but I can even make a case for rap, when it comes to someone like Eminem, who is from Detroit, Michigan, and where I lived for many years. |
| Фильмы: | 1979's "Alien" is at the top of my list, forever. "Life of Pi" was also a beautiful movie, and I've just recently seen the wonderful "White Tiger" or "Белого Тигра" and it is a magnificent movie! Made in 2012, it can only be had here in the U. S. on DVD, through Amazon. I think it's a wonderful movie and I really enjoyed it! |
| ТВ передачи: | I don't really watch TV, as I'm partially-sighted, but I have software on my computers that enhance what I see, so I do a lot of Netflix and other Streaming services. I've enjoyed "The Wire", "Angel", the spinoff from "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" and a ridiculous comedy called "Brooklyn 99". There are many others that I've watched too, and I tend to watch them LOTS when I game, because we do boring stuff on our game, hhhh! |

| Книги: | Too many to count; all the classics that I studied in university. Shakespeare I still read occasionally, along with contemporary fiction. I read non-fiction books too, and they tend to be history books. |
| Интересы: | Cats. Big ones, little ones. I am fascinated by cats. I have a little stray cat that adopted me, when I got out of the homeless shelter and made the brave move of finding a new home across the street from my old shelter. She was abused; is blind in one eye and is the sweetest kitty ever! I also love to read and I write. I come from a very literate family and I do not remember a time when I could NOT read. I enjoy writing and keeping a blog that has a nice readership. I also enjoy cooking, but I cannot bake very well. However, if you come to my house, I make a wonderful potato salad! |

| Деятельность: | Violist; professional player for over 35 years. I currently play in the Tampa Bay Symphony, after several years of being sick with a motor disorder, which prevented me from playing. We are playing the mighty Shostakovich's 5th Symphony this spring and I can hardly wait! Currently, we are playing Edward Elgar's "Enigma Variations". I play any and all types of music, but must admit, I find the Russian composers the most satisfying and intriguing to play! I also help and work in the neighborhood I live in; it is a low-income neighborhood and I was once homeless here. Now, that I am on Disability, I can give back and I have a second degree in Computer Science (my 1st was in Music, obviously, hhhhh) and fix computers for my neighbors, free of charge. It's not much, but it helps out the little old ladies and such whose grandkids have gummed up their computers with viruses, stupid games and whatnot. |

| Любимые цитаты: | Well, the first one I mentioned "Life without music would be a mistake." Actually, it would have been great if Beethoven had said it. Beethoven and I share the same birthday and he's been my absolute favorite composer since I was a kid. He said, "To play a wrong note is to be excused, but to play without passion, is inexcusable." which I believe to be true. Playing and playing well is not accident and it is hard, so why not pour every bit of your heart and soul into it? It's another reason I so adore the Russian composers and their school of composition. The only other quote that I adore is one that a conductor once shouted during a rehearsal many years ago. I cannot remember what we were playing, but the second violins were having a horrible time of it. The conductor who was usually pretty laid-back hollered out "Second violins, when you run out of notes, STOP playing!" Damn right! |
